Ingredients (Serves 4)
- 3–3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (360–420g)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (25g)
- 1 teaspoon salt (6g)
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda (1g)
- 4 teaspoons baking powder (16g)
- 1/4 cup butter, melted (60ml)
- 3/4 cup buttermilk, room temperature (180ml)
- 1 large egg
- Olive oil for greasing the pan
Method
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking sheet with olive oil and set aside.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Add in the melted butter, buttermilk, and egg. Stir until the dough starts to come together.
Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until the dough is smooth. Form into 8-10 balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Allow to cool before serving.
