The history of tiramisu

Tiramisu is an Italian dessert that first appeared in the 1960s. It is believed to have been created by a pastry chef in the city of Treviso.

The name of the dessert means “pick me up” in Italian, and it is believed to have been created to give a boost of energy to people after a long day of work.

The original recipe consisted of alternating layers of ladyfinger biscuits and a mixture of eggs, sugar, and mascarpone cheese. The mixture was then flavored with coffee and cocoa powder, and topped with more mascarpone cheese and cocoa powder.
