The origin of Maryland Crab Cakes
Maryland Crab Cakes have been a staple in Maryland cuisine for centuries. The first known recipe for a crab cake can be dated back to the early 19th century.
It is believed that the crab cake originated as a way to make use of the abundant Chesapeake Blue Crabs that were in the area.
The original recipe consisted of crab meat, egg, and cracker crumbs, but over time it has evolved to include a variety of ingredients, such as bread crumbs, mustard, parsley, and Old Bay seasoning.
