Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 pound fresh lump crabmeat
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 3/4 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • (Optional) vegetable oil for frying (at 350°F)

Method

1. Begin by combining the crabmeat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, egg, and parsley in a large bowl. Mix until all ingredients are evenly distributed.

2. In a separate bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs, Old Bay seasoning, and salt. Set aside.

3. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in the larger bowl and mix gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

4. Form the mixture into 8 patties about 3 inches in diameter. Place them on a plate and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes.

5. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and melt the butter. Once melted, add the crab cakes to the pan and cook for 3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

6. Serve with lemon wedges and your favorite tartar sauce or remoulade.
