Judith Kindler’s Exhibition The Shape of Things to Come oscillates between the stark formal qualities of Modernism and the soulful and emotionally provocative narratives of contemporary life valued by Postmodernism. Kindler utilizes diverse mediums such as photography, painting and drawing that blur the line between two dimensional and sculptural works. Her subject matter explores the human figure- spirited young men, women and children are captured in dynamic compositions that tap into the psychology of the subject as they dramatically move and gesture. The motion and energy in Kindler’s subjects is reflected in the undulating shapes that compose many of the works in this exhibition. Judith Kindler was awarded the Poncho artist of the year in 2009 and her work is included in the permanent collection of the Bakersfield Museum of Art CA.
