Ford Crull: "In the Realm of the Fantastic" July 1 - July 31, 2014
New York painter Ford Crull’s expressionistic paintings are highly charged. The artist’s emotions are laid out for the viewer, and Crull is not afraid to paint the darker side of what he is feeling in addition to the exuberant. There is a primordial quality to the painting as Crull’s visual vocabulary consists of symbols that feel ancient and timeless. Each viewer will see these archetypal symbols differently as the context shifts based upon their own experience and history. Ford Crull’s work is in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian American Art Institute among many others.
