Abmeyer + Wood Fine Art specializes in contemporary painting and sculpture, and we have a particular interest in figurative ceramics and glass sculpture. We seek out artists for representation that exhibit a unique combination of talent and vision. In addition to mounting monthly exhibitions in our gallery space, we also actively seek out collectors in other regions through participation in art fairs and national advertising. We are prominently located in downtown Seattle across the street from the Seattle Art Museum and Benaroya Symphony Hall and nearby the historic Pike Place Market. Abmeyer + Wood strives to bring the best in contemporary arts to the Pacific Northwest through our roster of nationally recognized and exciting emerging artists.
Originally from the East Coast, Jonathan moved to Seattle in 2002 to attend a Master's program in art history at University of Washington where he focused on contemporary Northwest Coast Native American art. Having fallen in love with the Pacific Northwest, Jonathan decided to make Seattle his home and while in school started an internship with a local gallery. He eventually became director of that same gallery, before acquiring it in January 2012 and rebranding it as Abmeyer + Wood. Jonathan is passionate about many art forms but has a special place in his heart for abstract expressionist painting and figurative sculpture. Prior to working in the visual arts, he served as a teacher for children with special needs and ran an indie rock record label.
A Midwest transplant, Justine’s ambition to facilitate a career in the arts led her to Seattle. Previously she graduated with a degree in art history and marketing at the University of Central Missouri, where she also worked to curate exhibitions at local galleries. Her curatorial experience fostered a desire to continue to bridge the gap between artists and their communities. Justine has a special passion for creating opportunities for emerging artists and supporting their careers. When not at Abmeyer + Wood you can find Justine singing karaoke, walking her three-legged cat, or planning her next outdoor adventure.
Natalie grew up in Colorado and Arizona before moving to the Northwest to study Creative Writing and Psychology at Seattle Pacific University. As an undergrad she ran a literary arts journal and grew more passionate about the art scene at her university and the greater Seattle community. Natalie finds great joy in providing artists a platform to share work as well as encouraging all people in their creative endeavors. While she primarily considers herself a writer, Natalie also shoots film photography and enjoys gardening. In her spare time, you can find her listening to live music, reading, or planning her next big project at the local café.
